2015 Spring Into Song Master Classes
April 11th at 3:30pm – “Crossovers in the Concert Hall Master Class” with the author of Song: A Guide to Art Song Style & Literature and Art Song: Linking Poetry & Music, Carol Kimball. Kimball explores the music of Gershwin, Porter, Kern, Rogers & Hart, Bernstein, Sondheim, Weill, and more!

April 18th at 1pm – “The Songs of Richard Strauss Master Class” with internationally established pianist, Mark Markham. Markham has spent close to 20 years as the pianist to famed American soprano, Jessye Norman, and will take singers through an extraordinary afternoon with one of German Lieder's most fascinating composers.

April 25th at 1pm – “French Song Master Class: Symbolist Poets” -
Master Class on French Mélodies on texts of Baudelaire, Verlaine, Rimbaud and Mallarmé with Thomas Grubb, author of Singing in French: A Manual of French Diction and French Vocal Repertoire, and collaborator with such artists as Pierre Bernac, Eleanor Steber, Elly Ameling, Benita Valente, Elizabeth Mannion, Maurice André and Renée Fleming.

May 2nd at 1pm – “The Italian Song & Aria Master Class” with renowned opera coach, Joan Dornemann. Dornemann will explore the songs of Bellini, Donaudy, Puccini, Tosti, and Verdi with emerging artists. She is currently an Assistant Conductor at the Metropolitan Opera and the Co-founder & Artistic Director of The International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI). Dornemann has worked with such prominent international singers like Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, Montserrat Caballé, Mirella Freni, José Carreras, Sherrill Milnes, Kiri Te Kanawa, Leo Nucci, Renee Fleming, Aprile Millo, Deborah Voigt, Neil Shicoff, Juan Diego Flórez, and Anna Netrebko among others.

May 9th at 1pm – “European Art Song Master Class” with Thomas Muraco, Manhattan School of Music. Muraco has collaborated with
John Aler, Martina Arroyo, Denyce Graves, Ben Heppner, Faith Esham, Benita Valente and more! Muraco will guide singers through an afternoon of English, French, German, and Italian art songs.

May 16th at 1pm – “The Songs of Maurice Ravel Master Class” with the legendary pianist, Dalton Baldwin, Westminster Choir College. Baldwin has collaborated with Gérard Souzay, Elly Ameling, Arleen Auger, Jessye Norman, Jose Van Dam, Marilyn Horne, Frederica Von Stade and more! Baldwin will spend an afternoon with singers shedding light on this fascinating French composer.

Recital Series
April 10th at 8pm – “French Song recital”
A recital of mélodies by Chausson, Duparc, Debussy and Poulenc, plus Poulenc's Histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant on a text of Jean de Brunhoff, will be presented at La Maison Française of New York University (16 Washington Mews & University Place) by Thomas Grubb, Carol Kimball, Kirsten Kane and Sahoko Sato.
Co-sponsored by La Maison Française of NYU. Limited seating is available.

May 10th at 2pm – “German Song recital” featuring various emerging recitalists in collaboration with Thomas Muraco (piano) as they perform songs by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, Mahler, and Strauss. The program will feature Winnie Nieh (soprano), Olivia Betzen (soprano), Maria Moon(soprano), Christopher Eaglin (tenor) and Ray Lee (tenor).
